Former Everton player, Alan Stubbs has warned the Premier League club against hiring Jose Mourinho as their next manager.
There have been speculations that Everton’s incoming owners want to bring Mourinho to Goodison Park.
The Friedkin Group’s takeover of Everton is currently going through after they reached an agreement to buy Farhad Moshiri’s majority 94 percent stake of the club.
Owner and CEO of the company, Dan Friedkin, is said to be interested in appointing the Portuguese, who is currently the manager of Fernabahce.
Mourinho has managed the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United, Inter Milan and Porto in the past.
However, Stubbs believes Mourinho, 61, is not the same manager who was regarded as one of the best in the world in the past.
“If Everton were going to appoint the Mourinho of old, the young Mourinho who was so successful and charismatic, then I would say yes bring him into the football club, and without being disrespectful to Sean Dyche, I think most Everton fans would because peak Mourinho was a very special manager,” Stubbs told BestBettingSites.
“If Everton were going to move for him now, I don’t think it would be a good move to be honest.
“His last few spells in management haven’t really worked out for him. He still provides that bit of sparkle.”
