Released last week, I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest with You chronicles Hart’s decades-long experience with Lyme disease, which her doctors believe she contracted as a teenager.

As for My Mind and Me, the 2022 documentary takes an in-depth look at Gomez’s life following her diagnosis with lupus and bipolar disorder. The film is directed by Alek Keshishian, known to legions of music fans for capturing Madonna at the peak of her boundary-smashing fame in the 1991 documentary Truth or Dare.

On The Graham Norton Show, Hart was quick to clarify that her work as a comedian differed from Gomez’s in the film, TV and music realms. Still, she felt a kinship with the Only Murders in the Building actor given that they both know “what a chronic condition is like.”

“I think she’s incredible,” Hart said.

Despite her teary appearance on British TV, Gomez is enjoying an abundance of acclaim for her performance in Emilia Pérez, a musical crime comedy that’s been singled out by critics as an awards season front-runner. In the movie, she portrays Jessi Del Monte, the grieving wife of a Mexican cartel leader (Karla Sofía Gascón) who, unbeknownst to Gomez’s character, has faked her own death in order to live truthfully as a transgender woman.
